Tourism Cabinet Secretary Rebecca Miano has welcomed the inaugural AirAsia flight to Nairobi, Kenya.
The flight from Kuala Lumpur to Nairobi marks a significant milestone for both Kenya’s aviation and tourism sectors.
The AirAsia plane landed at JKIA on Friday.
“I am delighted to welcome the inaugural AirAsia direct flight from Kuala Lumpur to Nairobi and to receive 377 passengers and crew on board this historic flight!” said CS Miano
The CS spoke after the welcoming ceremony at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport.
The arrival of the flight, which touched down with both passengers and crew, signifies a new chapter in Kenya’s connectivity to Asia, as well as the growth of the country’s tourism industry
The AirAsia plane upon landing at JKIA was treated to a water salute.
It is a symbolic tradition that involves an aeroplane flying under an arch of water created by fireboats.
