Two people were lynched by a mob at Kibuye Kisumu on Sunday morning. Early morning of Sunday caught Kibuye residents at a cross with police after the angry mob lynched two middle-aged men for alleged criminal activities in the area.
The angry crowd made its way to the Jaramogi Oginga Odinga hospital to smoke out one of the said middle-aged men who had run to the hospital in hopes of seeking refuge from the irate mob. But the mob was to have none of that as they followed the suspect in there as well determined to get him.
The suspect is alleged to have confessed to mugging and killing a businesswoman on Saturday night. the angry mob overpowered the security team at the hospital and made its way to the man, then carried the culprit outside where they lynched him.
Afterwards, the mob made its way to Kibuye Market where they got to the second suspect who was hiding out in a shop in Kibuye Market where they killed him as well.
The second culprit was accused of being part of a gang that had been causing mayhem in Kibuye by use of unregistered motorbikes. Motorbike riders accused the gang of painting the name of the genuine rider in bad grace.
The residents further accused the security agents of laxity vowing to initiate a citizen-led crackdown to smoke out criminal elements within the boda boda community.
Police had to use tear gas to disperse the angry residents baying for a gang operating unregistered motorbikes who were causing mayhem in town.
The two bodies were later taken to the Jaramogi Ondinga mortuary.
