TikTok content creator Brian Muchiri has secured a job at the BBC, marking a significant milestone in his career. This achievement comes just weeks after he proposed to his longtime girlfriend, Jane Karumba.
Brian took to his TikTok channel to share the exciting news with his followers.
“I never thought the day would come when I would say, ‘I’m going to the BBC.’ When you hear BBC, you think of big names like Jeff Koinange.”
Brian credited those who believed in him and sent him the job application link, saying their support gave him the confidence to apply.
“I applied for the position in January when ‘Future Voices for Nairobi’ opened. It was the first time they were doing it in Kenya, and many people sent me the link.
Almost 20 people forwarded it to me. Your belief in me and your support gave me the motivation to go for that opportunity. Thank you to everyone who supported me.”

Overcoming Adversity
Brian has been using a wheelchair for the past 10 years after surviving a tragic road accident in 2014 that left him permanently paralyzed.
“I was involved in a grisly road accident back in 2014. As a result, my spinal cord was dislocated, fractured, and severed completely, leaving me paralyzed from the chest down with no hope of ever walking again.”
The accident, which claimed the lives of three of his friends, changed his life drastically. He recalled struggling to accept his new reality and having to rely on his parents for essential tasks such as bathing and feeding.
“I remember how hard it was to accept that I could no longer walk and would have to heavily depend on my caregivers for even the most basic daily activities, such as bathing.”
In a previous interview with Nation, Brian shared the heartbreaking moment he learned about the fate of his friends.
“A week after the accident, a friend visited me in the hospital. She had just attended the burial of one of our mutual friends who was in the car with me that day.
As she recounted the aftermath, I learned that two of my other friends had also passed away, while the fifth passenger survived with minor injuries.
She also told me that I had suffered a spinal injury.”
