Veteran gospel singer Peterson Githinji popularly known as Pitson has opened up about how he managed to write renowned songs for top ministers in Kenya. Pitson shared how he wrote successful songs for most top gospel artistes. Which songs did Pitson write for gospel artistes? In an interview on Radio 47, Pitson claimed God talked to him about having 15 songs that would top charts but neither will be his. He added that he sold all the songs to the different artistes that he knew would do justice to his lyrics. “God had told me before that He will give me songs, 15 songs top gospel songs in Kenya. And He told me they were not mine. That was after COVID. Among those songs, there was Pale Pale by Size 8, there was Vanity by Daddy Owen, and Shule Yako by Mercy Masika, I wrote 15 songs that ended up topping the charts and God told me none there is yours. I sold them,” he said.
He explained that with each song, he knew who to call and that it took Owen two days to get to the studio to record after hearing the tune. “I called them and told them I have a song that would fit you and there was none who refused. I was just like a vessel that God used,” he added. Pitson once narrated how fame and money almost broke his marriage. Photo: Pitson.
