As ARABIKA Coffee Day 2025 approaches, the aroma of Kenyan coffee is set to be the focal point.
Through a press release, Italian Agency for Development Cooperation (AICS) Representative Giulio Di Pinto emphasizes the significance of bringing together policymakers and investors to shape the future of the coffee industry.
“We have scheduled the event for March 14, 2025, at the E4Impact Entrepreneurship Center in Karen, Nairobi and this gathering will be an exciting convergence of farmers, industry experts, policymakers and investors all coming together to discuss the future of Kenya’s coffee sector.” He said.
Di Pinto said that under the theme “The Future of Coffee: Sustainability, Quality and Market Trends,” the event will delve into key conversations shaping the coffee industry.
“From tackling climate change and improving cooperative governance to exploring new market opportunities, ARABIKA Coffee Day is a movement toward a stronger, more resilient coffee sector,” he said.
He noted that Kenya has long been known for producing some of the world’s finest coffee, but the industry faces significant hurdles such as fluctuating prices, ageing farmers and limited access to global markets.
“Since its inception in 2021 the ARABIKA Project, a partnership between the governments of Kenya and Italy, funded by the Italian Agency for Development Cooperation (AICS), aims to cushion and empower the coffee industry in Kenya,” said Di Pinto.
In the press release, he said that over the years, the project initiative has worked with smallholder farmers to enhance production, improve branding and unlock new opportunities for Kenyan coffee.
Some of the noble achievements recorded by the project include modernized coffee-tasting laboratories to ensure quality control and consistency in Kenyan coffee; extensive farmer training; and equipping smallholders and cooperative leaders with best practices to improve productivity and efficiency as well as brand development.
With seven new Kenyan coffee brands in the process of registration, this will help to boost recognition on the global stage and introduce Kenyan coffee to international markets.
“Kenyan coffee has been featured at prestigious events like the Nairobi International Trade Fair, SIGEP in Rimini, Italy, World of Coffee in Copenhagen, and African Fine Coffees Association (AFCA) in Tanzania, thus strengthening connections with buyers worldwide,” he said.
He stated that these achievements are a testament to the resilience and potential of the Kenyan coffee industry and ARABIKA Coffee Day 2025 will allow industry players to come together, share insights and explore fresh ideas to shape Kenyan coffee’s brighter future.
Di Pinto called upon various stakeholders to attend the ARABICA Coffee Day 2025 saying they will benefit by gaining valuable knowledge, connecting with industry leaders and being part of the movement towards a more sustainable and resilient coffee sector.
