The Kitui County Assembly has wrapped up its week-long “Bunge Mashinani” sessions at Migwani Primary School in Mwingi West.
The initiative, aimed at bringing governance closer to the people, saw residents throng the temporary assembly to witness proceedings and provide feedback.
The sessions focused on sensitizing the public about the county assembly’s activities and its role in governance.
Nguni Ward MCA Kimanzi Muange noted that such initiatives are essential in sensitizing the electorate on the roles played by the county assembly in governance of counties.
He commended Kitui county assembly speaker Kevin Kinengo Katisya for authorizing the program and urged for its extension to all sub-counties in Kitui to enhance its impact.
On his part Nguni MCA Jeremiah Mutua noted that residents provided crucial feedback during the engagement forums.
Key concerns raised included water access, adequate drug supplies in hospitals, and improved road maintenance and connectivity.
