Transport Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen has undertaken to ensure that the number of road accidents in the country will reduce significantly.
The CS vowed to abide by President William Ruto’s directive to bring an end to the current trend of frequency of road carnage that has seen many lives lost, and more Kenyans suffering serious injuries as a result.
In this regard, Murkomen disclosed Thursday morning that motorists who fail to adhere to traffic regulations will have themselves to blame.
“Following the directives issued by His Excellency the President, all police officers are under instructions to enforce the law without considering their police departments. Such errant drivers, ridders & passengers will be in aloooooot of trouble. The numbers must fall,” he posted on his X account.
Speaking while launching the National Road Safety Action Plan 2024, President Ruto said his administration will among other things improve infrastructure, adopt zero-tolerance for negligence, and aggressively enhance awareness to reduce road accidents.
He also noted that the government will also employ modern traffic monitoring technology to ensure the safety of road users across the country.
