Activist Okiya Omtatah has been arrested at Milimani law courts.
According to Milimani Chief Magistrate Francis Andayi, he issued a warrant of arrest because the activist has been failing to appear in court for the hearing of a criminal case in which he was charged alongside other protestors several years ago.
ARREST
The activist had allegedly sent someone to tell the magistrate’s court that he was appearing before the High Court and would go to the trial court as soon as he concluded the matter in the higher court.
However, the magistrate said that he has failed to appear before his court on several occasions.
Mr Omtatah is being held at Kilimani Police Station.
The magistrate has previously issued arrest warrants as well as warnings, but the activist has never been arrested.
The activist is known for filing several public interest cases in court.
