Dr Joseph Ouno OmondiGovernor Anyang’ Nyong’o has appointed a lecturer as the new Kisumu County chief of staff, replacing politician Mr Patrick Ouya.

In a statement by the governors’ press unit, Prof Nyong’o said he appointed Dr Joseph Ouno Omondi as the new staff boss effective June 13, 2018.

On Tuesday, police questioned Mr Ouya after accusations he threatened to shoot senior officials, including Deputy Governor Mathews Owili, in a fit of anger.
Kisumu County Police Commander John Kamau told the Nation that the officer had recorded a statement after he was accused of trying to forcibly enter the governor’s office.
Governor Nyong’o’s office later said the axed chief of staff had initially been denied entry into the county chief’s office where a meeting with guests was ongoing but threatened the guards with violence when they stopped him.
The governor’s press unit director, Mr Alloys Agery, said Mr Ouya breached Article 75 of the Constitution that requires state officers to behave, whether in public or private in a matter that avoids conflict between personal interests and official duties.
