Police are investigating the death of a Mount Kenya University student who was found dead in her rented house in Thika. Faith Musembi: Chilling WhatsApp Chats Show Slain Girl’s Killer Explaining Why He Killed Her Nineteen-year-old Faith Musembi is believed to have been killed on Wednesday, May 8, at Pilot Estate in Thika town. Faith’s suspected killers demanded ransom According to her father Boniface Musembi, her tormentors had demanded upward of KSh 27,000 ransom before they killed her.  The grieving father indicated that the suspects used his daughter’s phone while making their demands. Chilling WhatsApp chats between the kidnappers and the family have emerged, showing how unapologetic they were. In one of the messages, the suspected kidnapper expressed anger at the parents for failing to cooperate. According to the sender, the victim would be killed if the family continued dilly-dallying with ransom. “Can you tell the mother to cooperate and have her daughter back, or she dies with her unborn child,” read one of the messages. The frustrated family members tried to reason with the sender, hoping to soften his heart, in vain. In another message, the sender blamed the parents for whatever would happen to their daughter, adding that they failed to follow instructions. “The mother was so clever to fool me that she would send by 8 am, then when the time came, she ignored me. The results are with you,” it read. In a message sent to Faith’s niece, the sender showed no remorse for his actions, maintaining that the family had lied to him. “Siku yangu ikifika nitaenda tu (I will die when my day comes, that is not a problem),” the message states. Faith’s mother finally obliged and sent the money, after which they reported the matter to the Thika Police Station. However, the officers ruled out the report and concluded that Faith’s tormentors were playing a prank on her family. On Thursday, May 9, Musembi went to his daughter’s house, where he found a padlock on the door. They forcefully got in after cutting the padlock with a hacksaw, upon which they found Faith’s lifeless body. Her remains are lying in the Thika General Kago Funeral Home, with an autopsy revealing that she died from an internal haemorrhage. According to the report, her uterus was bleeding due to abruptio placenta, which is when the placenta separates and causes heavy bleeding.
