There were dramatic scenes in Syokimau/Mlolongo as enraged residents turned their frustrations on their Member of County Assembly (MCA), Daniel Mutinda. Syokimau residents forced MCA Daniel Mutinda to walk through flooded roads as a protest. The angry locals forced the ward representative to walk through the flooded, muddy roads as a show of frustration over the area’s poor infrastructure.
How did Syokimau residents force MCA into flooded road In videos shared widely on social media, the MCA was captured trudging along a flooded road, his official shoes and suit soaked in the mud as residents, mostly boda boda riders, surrounded him. They demanded that he experience firsthand the hardship they endure daily due to the dilapidated condition of the roads. In the footage, residents can be heard shouting “punda amechoka,” which translates to “the donkey is tired,” as they led him through the flooded path.
As he hesitated at the particularly muddy stretch of road, the residents, in unison, urged him to continue, jeering and sarcastically commenting. “Hakuna mwenye anampiga, tutembee tu,” one voice can be heard saying in the videos. The video, which quickly went viral, captured the intensity of the situation as more residents gathered around to watch the MCA, who appeared helpless in the face of the growing crowd.
