A woman narrates her marriage woes

A beautiful lady has vividly narrated her fair share of challenging experiences in her troubled marriage life. Kajiado woman and mum of three Jenny Sanchi narrates her experience in marriage. Jenny Sanchi claimed she married her ex-husband at a young age, but her holy estate of matrimony was a bed of thorns. How did Jenny Sanchi meet her ex? She recalled fondly meeting him at her aunt’s house, as her ex and aunt were neighbours. Sanchi told TUKO.co.ke that she and her ex were paired at a wedding, when they were in high school. “All through the wedding, I could tell that the guy was interested. He was trying to impress. I could tell that. I could not read any red flags then because he was a good friend to my aunt and her family, and she would even vouch for him,” she recalled. How old is Jenny Sanchi? Sanchi’s friendship with her ex grew as they continued to know each other better and ultimately fell in love. Despite her parents ‘ advice, she said she opted to get married rather than continue her studies. “He approached my father and laid out his plan for me. He promised to care for me and take me to school,” Sanchi recalled, adding she loved her man very much and desired to get married. The 29-year-old lady from Kajiado noted that her first three years in marriage were great, and she saw no red flags in her man at any point. What time was Sanchi supposed to be home? As time went by, the cute Sanchi conceived and gave birth to a healthy baby girl when she was in college. “So trouble in paradise began when I returned home for holidays. He started having many rules like I should be at home by 4pm and not wear some clothes. I knew things were not right as I could feel tension in the room. The first time he laid his hand on me was when, one night, I returned home slightly late, around 7pm. There was a community event where her mother and sisters were present. Funny enough, he, too, was present. When we arrived, he asked me why I was getting home that late, yet I knew my curfew hours,” Sanchi, a teacher by profession, narrated. At that moment, as they confronted each other, Sanchi’s ex laid his hand on her for the first time but not the last.  Why did Kajiado woman remain in marriage? The doting mother of three said the abuse would go on to get worse as they continued in their marriage. However, Sanchi would remain in her marriage, hoping her man would change for the better. “I cannot lie. I left my marriage around 10 times, but each time I left, I always came back. The first time I left, I knew deep down in my heart that I was done with the marriage, and there was no going back. But it was like a cycle,” Sanchi said. She said whenever she would involve her uncles and in-laws, her ex would always fake that he was remorseful. “He would apologise and say he would never abuse me. Other family members would fall for it, but I knew deep down it was a show. I knew him, the kind of man he was and what he could do.  Another time, his mother and grandmother begged me not to leave him. When I returned, my ex could not hide his arrogance and pride. ‘Where did you think you were going? Who is the fool now?’ And he would mock me,” she said. Why was Jenny Sanchi bleeding? Sanchi said the day she gave up on her marriage was the day she almost lost her life after her husband put his hand on her neck. She recalled bleeding and almost passing out until a pastor’s wife, whom she said was God-sent, showed up. “I asked her not to leave without me as I was also going to work. I changed my clothes and walked out with her. I explained everything and told her that if she had not come, then the story would have been different,” she said.
