Man hacks sons to death after fight with wife over 4kg unga
A middle-aged man is reported to have hacked his two sons to death in Konoin, Bomet County on Friday evening, after a quarrel with his wife over maize flour.

According to the area police boss Alex Shikondi, 28-year-old Peter Langat had earlier on warned his wife that he would commit the act if she failed to provide 4kg of Unga.

The suspect claimed that his wife, who is a teacher at Siomo primary, provides nothing for the family.

The wife is reported to have fearfully prepared the meal and took off with the children after the meal, taking refuge in the home of the suspect’s brother, a Mr. Daniel Langat.

The suspect is reported to have stormed the house at around 10pm with a machete and slashed the minors; a six and four year old. His wife managed to run away.

Those present raised alarm and rushed the children to Cheptalal Sub-County hospital, where they were pronounced dead on arrival.

Police have launched a manhunt for the suspect who fled after the incident.

The deceased have been moved to Kapkatet Sub-County mortuary awaiting a postmortem examination.
