Jackson Kuria Kihara, aka @Shakurthecop, a police officer who publicly opposed the Finance Bill 2024 and protested against it, has won the Human Rights Defenders Award. Shakur wins the Human Rights Defenders Award. Shakur was nominated for the Human Rights Defenders Awards in early November. It was a huge milestone for the police officer, as he made history as the first uniformed officer to be considered for the award.
Shakur won the award and looked sharp in his tight-fitting suit while receiving the award. Shakur’s strong opposition to police violence has made him a beloved figure among many Kenyans. The Human Rights Defenders lauded the viral cop, saying that his courageous stance during the Finance Bill 2024 protests was commendable.
