Citizen TV news anchor Trevor Ombija is gearing up for a tough political race, if his latest moves are any indication. Journalist Trevor Ombija eyes Nyakach MP seat. The media personality has been eying for a political seat, which is not a secret. Will Trevor Ombija be the next Nyakach MP? Through his foundation, Ombija has contributed to various charity events as a way of giving back to his community and laying a foundation for his political career. As a member of the Media Council of Kenya, one is not allowed to declare interest in a political seat while still in practice, but there are ways of doing so without word of mouth, and Ombija has seemingly resorted to this. Speaking in Nyakach during the funeral of Kisumu senator Tom Ojienda’s mother, the journalist confirmed the rumoured reports about him going for the Nyakach parliamentary seat. “I have offered my sincere condolences to my friend Tom Ojienda. I will not say much because of time. To the Nyakach people, I only have two requests. Let’s embrace development without chaos. The difference in ideologies is not enmity. Do you agree or not? If the whistle is blown for the race to start, is there anyone who can run faster than a dog?” Ombija said in a video shared by News One Kenya. What was Trevor Ombija’s job before fame? As we previously told you, the newscaster worked as a matatu conductor in his hometown of Nyakach for many years before he became a well-known face on Kenyan television. This could explain why Ombija maintains a tight relationship with the people of Nyakach, Kisumu, despite his rapid climb in journalism.
