A picture of the late Bob Collymore’s close-knit group of friends surfaced on Tuesday to pay homage to the former Safaricom CEO.
The picture which surfaced on June 30 came to the limelight exactly a year after Collymore succumbed to cancer.
Collymore died on July 1, 2019, at his home in Kitisuru.
In the picture, Citizen TV anchor Jeff Koinange, Radio Africa Group CEO Patrick Quarcoo, politician Peter Kenneth, Scangroup CEO Bharat Thakrar and Kenya Commercial Bank CEO Joshua Oigara were spotted.
But this time round, Collymore was replaced by his wife, Wambui Kamiru.
Koinange who shared the picture thanked Kamiru for the gesture even as he promised to keep his memory alive.
“One year later, our captain’s spirit lives on through his amazing wife, Wambui Kamiru and the boys club. Thanks for bringing us together Wambui! We shall continue to keep celebrating Bob,” he tweeted.
The telco also sent a statement on Wednesday to celebrate the death anniversary of their former CEO.
“While it is sad and difficult time for all of us, we take courage that his dream of doing business for good, lives on in our work, our customers and our vision,” the statement read.
“Bob lived a purposeful life. He touched and transformed many lives within Safaricom and beyond.”
On his first death anniversary, Kenyans from all walks of life also remembered Collymore who was one of the most recognizable people in the country.
Bob Collymore might be gone but will never be forgotten. Continue resting in peace. We do miss you. #CelebratingBob
