National Assembly Speaker Justin Muturi has declared the Kabuchai Parliamentary seat vacant after the death of area MP James Lusweti.
Muturi announced this in the gazette notice dated December 18, 2020.
The legislator who died a week ago had a long battle with arthritis.
Leaders took to Twitter to eulogise the legislator.
Deputy President William Ruto eulogised Lusweti as a “progressive, selfless and enterprising leader who has been instrumental in the unity and transformation of Western region”.
The DP said Lusweti was a faithful force for development and cohesion.
Lusweti was serving his second term.
He won the seat when his predecessor, Moses Wetang’ula, vied for Senate post and won. Kabuchai was split from the larger Sirisia constituency.
