Korir Attributes City Stars’ Fine Form To Healthy Competition Within

Nairobi City Stars CEO Patrick Korir has attributed the team’s tremendous progress this season in the FKF Premier League to healthy competition within.

The Nicholas Muyoti-coached side has had a good run this season and is currently second on the log with 35 points from 19 matches.

“Last season, some of the players featured in the Premier League for only the first time. Now they have matured and are more confident and they know exactly what is required from them on and off the pitch.

“We maintained last season’s team and bench, with the important addition of coach Muyoti. That helps a lot as team chemistry has been maintained, the competition is very high, everyone wants to play and this has really helped us get results” Korir told Citizen Digital.

The soft spoken boss has warned Bidco to brace for fierce battle in Thika on Saturday when the two sides collide terming the encounter a “derby”.

“We know they are coming for three points, this has been like a derby, we defeated them home and away while seeking promotion to the top tier, last season we drew at home and they beat us away, this season we hammered them at home so it’s going to be a tough game,” he added.

The CEO hailed the impact brought by head coach Nicholas Muyoti to the side, citing his experience in coaching and as a player in the same league and at the national level.

The former Kakamega Homeboyz tactician joined Simba wa Nairobi before the start of the campaign filling in the void left by former head coach Sanjin Alagic.

“We have a coach who’s a legend not only in the league but also at the national team level. His experience is really helping us. Having played in this league, Muyoti understands how the system works and how the grounds are.

Moreover, he has played with some of the coaches in other teams making it easier for him to pick their philosophy,” he concluded.    BY CITIZEN DIGITAL
