A school proprietor in Nairobi’s Eastleigh area has appealed to the government for protection citing harassment from some locals.
Abdikadir Elmi Robleh, the owner of Amoud High School and Daru Elmi Academy, lamented that the harassment may affect candidates who are currently sitting for their KCSE exams.
In an interview with the Star, Robleh alleged that some of his neighbours want him deported so that they can take over the management of the school.
Robleh claimed locals have in the past engineered his arrest and prosecution over claims that he is a terrorist.
He said the terrorism cases have been dismissed by courts for lack of evidence.
In 2021, the Anti-Terrorism Police Unit wrote to the Kahawa Law Courts where Robleh was arraigned, saying that investigations had established that he was not a terrorist as alleged.
Magistrate Boaz Ombewa dismissed the case and ordered the file closed.
The court ruled that despite being of Djibouti descent, he was legally in the country.
During the ruling, the court added that it was not a crime to hold dual nationality.
The two schools, Amoud High School and Daru Elmi Academy have been registered by the Ministry of Education. BY THE STAR
