Woman attacked, hacked to death in Luanda, Vihiga County

A 29-year-old woman was found dead on the roadside after she had been hacked by an unknown assailant in Luanda Township, Vihiga County.

Police said the body of Dainah Khamati Alelah was found on the roadside on Monday morning after she had been killed.

Locals said she was confronted by a lone man who struck her on the head with an unknown object, killing her instantly.

Police officers visited the scene and found her lifeless body with a deep cut on the forehead.

Nothing was stolen from her, police said adding the assailant escaped from the scene.

The motive of the incident is yet to be known. The body was moved to the mortuary pending autopsy and other procedures.

Elsewhere in Langas, Eldoret Town, a police officer was injured before being robbed of his motorcycle and other valuables on Monday night.

The police constable who is attached to Langas Police Station said he was on his way home riding his motorcycle when he was attacked.

He was confronted by five armed men believed to be robbers.

They attacked him, robbed him of his mobile phone and motorcycle key, and inflicted a deep cut on his head and the left side of his chin.

Police said he was rushed to a local hospital where he was treated and discharged in fair condition.

No arrest or recovery has been made so far. Police said they are pursuing the gang behind the attack.

In Siaya Town, a bodaboda rider said he was robbed of his motorcycle in a robbery.

He told police he had picked up a passenger when he was later blocked on the way by a car before five men alighted and beat him up.

They then robbed him of his motorcycle before escaping with it.

In Kajiado’s Olosios village, a gang riding on a motorcycle robbed a motorist of his cash and valuables in an attack on Sunday.

The victim told police he was driving to church with his wife and three other men when three men on a motorcycle struck.

They blocked the driver and at gunpoint demanded cash and other valuables.

They grabbed an unknown amount of money,  mobile phones and various items before riding off.

Police were alerted and arrived at the scene but no arrest or recovery was made.

A team of detectives is pursuing the gang, police said.
