When we fall ill or need to take a loved one to a hospital apart from proximity, the quality of care also influences our choices.

You want assurance walking into a hospital that you will receive the best care because the institution is patient-centric, compassionate, accountable, efficient and professional.

The newly opened AAR Hospital along Kiambu Road is this and more. The 140-bed level 5 general hospital has both inpatient and outpatient services.

The Hospital’s mission is to deliver an unparalleled patient experience through a customer-centred approach that leverages innovation and an engaged workforce.

Often confused with AAR Insurance and AAR Health Care, AAR Hospital is a different entity with experienced staffers who have patients and families at the centre of care.

Emergency/Urgent Care Services; Obstetrics & Gynecology Services; Specialized Clinics; Pediatric Services; Well baby and Travel Vaccine Services; Executive Check-up Clinics; Diagnostics and Imaging Services; Theatre Services; Renal Unit / Dialysis Services; Critical Care Services are some of the services provided by AAR Hospital.

The AAR Hospital also has inpatient services; Their inpatient care avails all the standard services, including surgery, medicine, pediatric (including newborn unit), and obstetrics and gynaecological services.

Women’s health during pregnancy and delivery is vital at the AAR Hospital. The Women’s and Infants’ Services meet women’s unique health care needs at every stage of their lives.

The maternity ward takes special care of your bundles of joy. The ward is named Furaha, a Kiswahili word for joy, expressing the beautiful process that fills the ward as they usher newborns.

The Furaha maternity ward is a 14 bedded ward consisting of two quads. The ward has four bedded rooms that hold a capacity of four moms and single rooms.

The maternity ward also consists of the baby nursery, where the nurses monitor the little ones after delivery.

The Pediatric wing also has inpatient facilities if your child needs to stay overnight for observation by the doctors.

The pediatric ward, also known as Pendo ward, consists of  8 rooms with a 10-bed capacity; six rooms have a single bed and are ensuite while two rooms are shared.

The hospital also has FOUR critical care units, namely;

  1. 1. 12-Bed Intensive Care Unit
  2. 2. 9-Bed High Dependency Unit
  3. 3. Neonatal unit
  4. 4. The renal unit has 11 dialysis stations that serve both inpatient and outpatient.

Four operating theatres support these four critical units.

One of the unique features of AAR Hospital is that they deliver outpatient services through independent emergency care facilities and outpatient facilities.

Emergency care receives patients in critical condition needing immediate and specialised care, whereas outpatient facility receives ambulatory/walk-in patients.

The day-care facility serves patients undergoing procedures that do not require overnight admission.

The outpatient services are augmented by a specialised clinic area akin to a doctor’s plaza within the hospital, with some of the most experienced doctors in different specialities.

This separation of the outpatient services implies that ambulatory care will continue without interruption from incoming emergencies, as in many other institutions.

AAR Hospital is open 24/7, and patients are welcome to visit and access services, whether day/ night.    BY THE STAR
