This comes after a previous attempt to impeach Nyaribo in October 2023.  Nyaribo survived impeachment the first time after 18 MCAs voted against his impeachment motion, while 16 supported it.

Nyaribo faced 12 charges, including illegal staff recruitment, failure to remit statutory dues, favoritism, and nepotism during that time.  High court suspends Governor Mwangaza’s impeachment This comes just a month after Meru governor Kawira Mwangaza breathed a sigh of relief when the High Court temporarily suspended her impeachment. Mwangaza had moved to the court to challenge the Senate plenary’s decision late Tuesday, August 20, to uphold her removal from office. Justice Bahati Mwamuye, in a ruling obtained by TUKO.co.ke, suspended the Senate resolution pending the hearing and determination of the case. The judge further restrained Senate Speaker Amason Kingi from gazetting Mwangaza’s impeachment. The case was slated for mention on September 17.
