Why you should not reply to drunk texts

Phones these days should come with a warning …, ‘Don’t drink and text.’

First of all it’s the weekend and most likely you sent or received a text that left you bewildered.

Drunk texting your ex is a common phenomenon that can leave you filled with regret the next morning. And being on the receiving end of these texts can have you wondering if there’s any truth to them. I have been there done that.

But why does alcohol make people feel like they need to reach out to ex-lovers, partners, or even flings? Do drunk texts mean anything, or is it just the alcohol talking?

Here’s why you shouldn’t reply to such texts:

  • Alchol and careless texts go hand-in-hand. People who drink often say or do things they regret, thanks to the way alcohol reduces inhibitions.
  • That ex texting you late at night has no sense of shame/or embarrassment. Your responding to them can result tin unnecessary back and forth the next day. So don’t respond to foolish messages.
  • Drunk texting an ex is a very common phenomena. So don’t respond.
  • Always take drunk texts with a pinch of salt, no matter who how special you think this person still is.
  • Keep in mind that serious conversations are best left for sober minds.
  • An ex might be trying to make theri current bae jealous that you guys still ‘talk’. That motive should stop you from responding when they drunkenly reach out to you:
  • They’re looking for an ego-boost. An intoxicated ex-lover might text you to get validation or affection when they haven’t found it from anyone else.
  • Unresolved feelings. A drunk person who hasn’t worked through their past could be seeking closure for the way a relationship ended.
  • They might want to have twa.
