A woman identified as Caroline Chepkoech, aka Chemamet, has regretted the day she gave a lift to a total stranger, and he turned out to be a robber who almost abused her as well. Why did Chemamet agree to carry Narok strangers? Speaking to TUKO.co.ke Chemamet shared that she left Nairobi very late on November 26, and decided to have a late lunch in Narok at around 5.30 pm.
“I decided to take my car to a carwash; it started raining at around 7:30 pm up to around 8:30 pm, when it subsided,” said Chemamit. “I left Narok town a few minutes later, and since it was still drizzling, I had to drive slowly. When I got to Oluolung’a, it started raining so I had to drive while the hazard was on until I got to town then pulled over at the stage to adjust them,” she narrated. How was Chemamet harassed?
The kind lady said that a Maasai lady approached her and just opened her car door, claiming that she had been there for hours and had not found a car to take her home to Ratili. Since she was a woman and had been rained on, Chemamet decided to give her a lift and took the back seat. At 9.45 pm, a man also entered the car, and Chemamet thought that they were together since he was also going to Ratili as well. .
I didn’t know that he had evil plans, and when we got to Ratili Shopping Centre the lady alighted. The man claimed that he was alighting a small distance from the shopping centre and asked if he could seat infront with me,” said Chemamet. “I drove for about 200m, and then he told me he wanted to alight, but when I pulled over, he told me to hand over all the money I had, or he would kill me.
He pulled out a Maasai club and I gave him the only KSh 2000 I had in my pocket,” she added. Chemamet said that he continued to harass her, insisting that there was no way she could be walking around with only KSh 2000 and yet she was driving a huge car. “He started forcing himself on me but when he learnt that I was having my menses, he left me alone and bragged that he had slept with many women on the road,” shared Chemamet.
