If you judge a book by its cover as your guiding principle, you might easily dismiss Alex David, also known as Prezzo the King of Moldings. This is until he casually mentions the powerful people he has helped build their dream homes.

In an interview with Lynn Ngugi, Alex mentioned that, among other places, he had shaped the governor’s office in Mandera county, Francis Atwoli’s home in Kajiado, and the President’s elect house in Karen.

If you’re wondering what molding is, it’s the extra detail added to enhance the aesthetics of the house’s inside and exterior. It can be found on walls, flowerbeds, or pillars.

It wasn’t always like that, and he wasn’t born with a silver spoon in his mouth; instead, he was a day worker making 400ksh.

Most individuals weren’t interested in molding, largely because they didn’t know what it involved.

He claims that his father, a sculptor, was instrumental in bringing out his hidden gift because he would add the finishing touches, like smoothing, to improve the artwork.

Later, Alex was given the chance to work on the exquisitely sculpted Mambas that the location has to offer at Mombasa’s Mamba Village.

He eventually went back to Nairobi, where he was given an opportunity by a woman in Kitengela after performing a window sample for her.

Alex was ecstatic to say the least when the woman agreed to give him 1000 shillings each day in lieu of his daily request of 500 shillings. Even though it didn’t happen instantly, as they say, the rest is history.

From working alone, Alex now manages eight sites throughout the nation with the help of a team of 40 workers. He also owns land in Kitengela.
