Tanzanian songstress and musician Zuchu, official dancer Angel Nyigu, has expressed how Diamond Platnumz pushed her to become an international dance celebrity.
Speaking to Mungai Eve, Angel stressed that it was life as usual until she met the WCB Wasafi boss.
“The biggest artist ambaye nimefanya naye kazi ni Diamond, na so far yeye amekuwa na impact kubwa sana kwenye career yangu.
Yeye ndiye alinipush, akaniambia nenda sasa, do your stuff.
Alinipost nikifanya freestyle na hivyo ndio nikawa viral.”
Going deeper into how Platnumz pushed her, she reminisced how he asked her to do a challenge, posted the video on his timeline, tagged her, and, as they say, the rest is history.
“There is this day tulikuwa tunafanya mazoezi, then akasema tufanye challenge fulani, yeye akashika simu yake akaturecord then akapost kwa page yake akanitag and that’s how nikaanza kupata opportunities zingine.”
In Kenya, the AFRIMA awards nominee has only worked with Willy Paul, but she said she is open to working with other Kenyan artists.
“Ningependa kufanya kazi na mtu yeyote yule ambaye anaweza kunipatia opportunity na tukaelewana. So far nimefanya tu na Willy Paul.”
The choreographer added that she has interacted with several Kenyan dance artists.
On inquiry whether she had met the Kenyan king of surprises, Moya David, she recounted how they met and did dance practices last year.
“Last year nilikuwepo hapa, nikafanya class, alikuwepo (Moya David) kwenye class na tulifanya pia TikTok videos.”
Angel Nyigu is in Kenya for dance classes and to also connect with her friends.
“Nimekuja for dance classes na kuendelea kuconnect zaidi kama East Africa na kumeet my friends.”
As she wrapped up, she said that her relationship with the Sukari hitmaker is strictly professional. BY MPASHO NEWS
