Diamond Platnumz has put a hold on his music festival dubbed ‘Wasafi Festival.’ This is the fifth annual season of the festival.
The festival involves different artistes performing in differenced provinces in Tanzania just before the end of the year.
Diamond and his team had already started this year’s show but paused after one of his employees, a radio presenter dubbed Dida passed away.
“Kutokana na Msiba wa Mpendwa wetu Khadija Shaibu (Dida) Uliotokea Oktoba 4, 2024, Tunalazimika Kusitisha kwa Muda Muendelezo wa Tamasha Letu La Wasafi Festival 2024 ambalo lilikua linaendelea kwenye baadhi ya Mikoa Nchini, iii kutumia muda huu Kuomboleza na Kuyaenzi Maisha ya Dida.” he wrote in a statement
(Due to the passing of our Beloved Khadija Shaibu (Dida) that occurred on October 4, 2024, we are forced to temporarily suspend the continuation of our Wasafi Festival 2024 which was going on in some regions in the country, to use this time to mourn and honor Dida’s life)
(Khadija Shaibu (Dida) became one of the biggest Entertainment Stakeholders not only on Radio but also at various major Music Festivals and she was able to organize several times her Traditional Music Festivals in different places in the country. So her departure is not only a blow to her listeners and lovers, but it is also a blow to the entire Wasafi Festival committee. “
They said they will announce the date of the continuation of the festival when it is ready “but in this period we would like to continue to honor and celebrate the Life of the Queen Of The Mic, Khadija Shaibu (Dida)”
