Homa Bay MP Peter Kaluma has ignited a heated debate on Twitter after KeMU University banned their students from rocking dreadlocks.
KOT is protesting Kaluma’s controversial sentiments by sharing their photos in dreadlocks and their different professions.
On January 8th on his Twitter, Mr Kaluma said; “Imagine your doctor, Lawyer, Engineer in dreadlocks ππ”
He was reacting to new rules by the Kenya Methodist University that instructed its students that the dress code needs to be enforced for 2023.
KeMU in the New Year message had written in a memo what male and female students should dress like and even the appearance they should adopt going forward.
KeMU banned male students from having dreadlocks, plaited hair, and wearing earrings, hats, caps, and vests that show their chests.
Female students have been banned from wearing mini skirts, bare backs, see-through clothes, body-tight trousers, and tumbo cuts.
Mr Kaluma agreed with the harsh rules; “This should be enforced by all Universities and learning institutions. We’re training leaders in various fields, not prostitutes!”
He added more comments about doctors being in dreadlocks after a Kenyan bashed him. @SekuruRoddie said “Very trivial, whatβs wrong with dreadlocks? Is this a Kid’s University?”
This did not sit well with KOT who responded with their photos rocking dreadlocks and the professions they represent.
