Outspoken political activists Morara Kebaso and Kasmuel McOure, known for their sharp critiques of the Kenya Kwanza administration, recently sat together on national television to share their views on the country’s political landscape. Political activists Kasmwel McOure and Morara Kebaso used their national TV interview to personally evaluate one another.
Did Morara, McOure debate become heated? However, things took a quick turn after the two seemed to disagree with each other’s ideologies. Morara seemed to have a problem with McOure’s recent change in stance after joining former prime minister Raila Odinga’s ODM party.
During an interview with Citizen TV, Morara accused Raila Odinga of betraying Generation Z by collaborating with President William Ruto to establish a broad-based government. He claimed that Raila’s actions were self-serving rather than in the interest of Kenyans. “I am blaming Raila for taking advantage of the Gen Z demonstrations, riding on the blood of the youth who have died to benefit himself,” Morara said.
McOure rebutted Morara’s criticism, stating that while joining the ODM party may not have been a universally popular choice, he aligned with the party that best served his interests. He further stated that Morara had founded the Inject Party, which grew out of Gen Z protests. However, he questioned Morara, asking why some members of his party had left due to conflicts of interest.
“His party lacks ideology. A party in which strong members have come out to castigate the party leader is serving nothing but self-interests. There are reasons I could not work with such a party. The problem with people like Morara is that he thinks because he is a carpenter, he is closer to Christ,” McOure argued. McOure also urged Morara to be honest in his actions, accusing him of making certain moves to win Kenyans’ sympathy.
“Be honest in your dealings because there is this narrative where you are driving sympathy. I don’t have a problem with you unearthing unfinished projects. I have a problem with you pulling certain stunts,” he added. In his defense, Morara confirmed McOure’s claims that he is closer to God.
He added that he had worked with ODM as a youth leader seven years ago and could give McOure advise about what happens at the party. “Whatever he is doing at ODM is something I did seven years ago. So interms of political experience and I can give him some education about what happens at ODM,” Morara responded.
