Silhouettes resembling President William Ruto and other government officials have been circulating on social media for weeks. Principal Secretary Raymond Omollo advised the creator of silhouettes of government officials to do so without ridiculing anyone.
Kenyans have been using the silhouettes to voice their dissatisfaction with the Kenya Kwanza government. The silhouettes have circulated widely on social media, prompting a response from the country’s administration. . What did govt say about Ruto’s silhouettes?
Speaking to Citizen TV, State Department for Internal Security and National Administration principal secretary Raymond Omollo addressed the issue after being asked if the individual behind the silhouettes is wanted by the government.Omollo expressed amazement at the individual’s creativity dismissing any notions that the government would pursue the person behind the silhouettes.
However, he viewed it positively, questioning how the state could leverage such technology for greater impact. “But, of course, even the creativity, whether we might not like it, shows the opportunities that are there. Probably there is so much that we can do with technology and take a cue from some of these people,” Omollo said.
Omollo suggested that the individual could explore opportunities to generate revenue by creating silhouettes that are non-ridiculing, allowing them to earn income respectfully. “They can even look for ways to monetize it in a manner that is not ridiculing,” Omollo stated.
