The presenter of the Gidi and Ghost program in the morning on Radio Jambo, Joseph Ogidi aka Gidi has mourned the veteran musician Eric Onguru aka Kunguru who passed away on Sunday.
Gidi, who was clearly shocked by the death of the legendary rapper, mourned him as his friend and wished his soul a peaceful rest.
“Eric Onguru aka Kunguru who sang ‘Baby Don’t Go’ with Mr Lenny has passed away. Rest in peace my friend,” Gidi said on his social media pages on Sunday.
The talented broadcaster who was also a singer continued to express his pain at the loss of one of his former colleagues in the music industry.
According to his former manager, Kunguru died on Sunday around 8 pm. The deceased had been hospitalized in Nairobi Hospital for the past few weeks.
The former manager explained that the veteran rapper has been hospitalized and allowed to go home regularly since 2017.
He related the long-term illness of Kanguru to the road accident he had in 2009/10 which affected his spine.
Kunguru is best remembered for his famous songs “I Will Never Let you Go” and “Baby Don’t Go”, featuring Mr. Lenny.
He started singing at a young age, although he rose to fame in 2006 when he released ‘African Woman’ featuring Mr. Lenny.
He was a family man and also worked in the banking industry apart from his music career. May he rest in peace.
