Man Jailed For Sniffing Neighbours’ Shoes

A court in Greece has sentenced a man to one month in jail for repeatedly disturbing his neighbours by sneaking into their compound and sniffing their shoes.

Appearing before the Thessaloniki court, the 28-year-old man was unable to explain his behavior of sniffing his neighbors’ shoes, although he admitted that the habit had caused him significant embarrassment.

The suspect confessed that he had no intention of breaking the law or harming anyone in committing the offense, stating that he did not understand why he was engaging in such an act.

However, the complainants told the court that the man did not show any signs of aggression during his nighttime visits to their compound.

The suspect was arrested by the police while in front of the complainant’s house, sniffing shoes that had been left outside one night after the complainant alerted the authorities.

The Thessaloniki court was told that there had been more than three incidents of the man disturbing his neighbors over the past six months, despite the complainants notifying the suspect’s family to put an end to his actions.

The issue escalated to court after the complainants failed to find a resolution through their complaints to the suspect’s family.

However, the suspect will also be required to attend counseling sessions to receive behavioral therapy aimed at addressing the habit that landed him in trouble.
