Police in Lari are investigating the murder of a Form 2 student whose body was dumped in Kijabe Forest and found on Saturday.
She appeared to have been strangled.
The Mbau-ini Secondary school student went missing on Friday evening.
Lari head of DCI Eunice Maingi on Monday said no one has been arrested.
“We are, however, following close leads that will help us discover what happened and who did that act,” she said.
She appealed to anyone with any information that will help discover what happened and what is going on to volunteer it to the police.
“We shall handle it with a lot of confidentiality,” Maingi said.
Lari MP Mburu Kahangara has sent condolences to the family, school and friends, saying it was sad to lose an innocent soul.
“We have been saddened by report of the brutal murder of that student. We are appealing to police to investigate the whole issue since we want to know who the killers are and ensure justice has been done,” he said.
The legislator urged parents to keep advising their children not to walk alone near forests.
“Let us not feel as if our teenage children are grown enough to be allowed to walk alone near forests or even walk alone anywhere in the evening,” he said. We really need to know that we have enemies who smile to us and we smile back.”
