Nominated Member of Parliament John Mbadi on Thursday said that the National Prayer Breakfast held yesterday was full of hypocrisy.
Speaking in an interview on Citizen TV, Mbadi said he didn’t intend to waste his time attending the prayer breakfast for the very same reason.
“I don’t want to waste my time in attending the Prayer Breakfast because it is hypocrisy,” he said.
He noted that as Azimio leaders, they did not make a collective decision when it comes to their attendance.
“We didn’t take any collective decision not to be at the prayer breakfast but I think each one of us made an independent decision,” he said.
The MP said that he personally has not attended any of the prayer breakfast meetings because he didn’t see any value that came with them.
“Yesterday for example, instead of praying, they went to campaign for the Finance Bill, a reason most of us would find going for these prayer meetings a waste of time,” he said.
Mbadi also noted the need for reconciliation but said that the word ‘reconciliation’ has been overused.
He said that there were better and more practical ways to reconcile instead of calling for such meetings.
This year’s Prayer Breakfast was held on Wednesday at Safari Park, Nairobi.
President William Ruto graced his first National Prayer Breakfast meeting that is organised by Parliament.
