Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi’s visit to Kenya has been rescheduled.

State House Press Secretary Emmanuel Talam told the Star that the visit has been rescheduled to a later date which will be confirmed.

Raisi was set to visit Kenya, Uganda and Zimbabwe for a three-day tour.

He was set to be the first Iranian President to tour Africa in 11 years.

He was seeking to diversify Iran’s export markets and promote trade cooperation with the three nations.

Kenya’s leading exports to Iran, as per the Statista, are tea and horticulture.

In 2022, Kenya earned over Sh163 billion from exports.

In March this year, Kenya announced it will be exporting 40 to 50 tonnes of sheep and meat per day to Iran with an estimated Sh773 million per month in a deal.     BY THE STAR
