Father spiked my drink before defiling me, minor tells court

A 14-year-old girl on Tuesday narrated to court how her father drugged her during his birthday before defiling her in Kawangware, Nairobi.

The girl, QP, said her father invited her to his birthday party which was being staged at a neighbour’s house.

That was on May 5, 2023. Her mother was away that day.

When she got to the neighbour’s house, she found her father in the company of three other people.

“He gave me some soda to drink. I later stated feeling dizzy and slept on the couch,” the girl narrated.

When she woke up, she found herself naked and on a bed in the neighbour’s house.

The girl told the court she immediately realised she had been defiled “because of the pain I felt”.

“I asked him (the father) why he did that to me and he threatened to harm me if I dared tell my mother or anybody else. I was in pain.”

She said the father then ordered her to put on her clothes and go home.

“I felt some fluid moving from my private parts and walked with a lot of pain and difficulty,” she said.

The court heard that the accused person was arrested after a neighbour noticed the girl’s walking style and questioned her.

“My neighbour realised that I was in pain and stopped me as I was walking home and asked me what transpired. I shared with him the whole story and he shared with my mother, who later contacted my area chief and my father was arrested.”

But the man who was in court downplayed the accusations, saying that he was being fixed by the girl’s mother because of their personal differences.

“Your honor, I divorced her mother and she (the mother) decided to revenge by fixing me, I didn’t defile her (the minor),” the father said.

The charge sheet shows the offence was committed on May 5, 2023, at Kawangware stage 2 within Dagoretti sub county in Nairobi.

The man is said to be the minor’s biological father even though he has since separated with the minor’s mother.

He faced a second count of committing an indecent act with a minor contrary to the Sexual Offences Act.

The man denied both charges before Kibera principal magistrate Renee Kitagwa who granted him a bond of Sh500,000 with the surety of the same amount.

The case will proceed for further hearing next month.       BY THE STAR
