Lang’ata Member of Parliament Phelix Odiwuour aka Jalang’o has given his thoughts about the current viral trend, Worldcoin.
“Ni mimi tu ama hii worldcoin ni utapeli? Naona watu watalia,” he opined in a video on his Instastories.
Loosely translated to mean, “It’s just me or this Worldcoin is a scam, I see people will cry.”
Worldcoin is a digital identification platform co-founded by OpenAI CEO Sam Altman.
The platform’s goal is to provide every individual on Earth with a verified digital identity, backed by a unique cryptocurrency token called Worldcoin (WLD) and a crypto wallet app.
Photos of hundreds of people having their eyeballs scanned have been doing rounds online. The big question by many is how these people get recruited.
In an exclusive interview with Mpasho, a World Coin agent (who wants to remain anonymous) shared these details.
“The process has been good so far. I decided to help people cash out especially people with no Cryptocurrency experience.
We are helping Kenyans cash out, times are tough and they need money in their pocket, it’s useless to give people crypto when they have never heard about it.
That is where I come in. I started this 4 days ago and I have made around 80K, It’s looking good. It’s good money and we have made connections. My phone has been ringing off the hook.”
How do they recruit people?
“You approach someone and explain to them what World Coin is and how it works. You also explain to them that cashing out is not as easy as they think.
I let them know they can lose money when they are cashing out and they are doing it on their own (without experience).
You convince them and help them out and you retain your commission. Everyone goes home happy.”
The agent says as much as there is an invasion of privacy concerns, change is inevitable.
“There are privacy concerns but it’s inevitable. The bottom line is people need money and there is money being offered by billionaires why not take it?
If you see someone lining up to get the Ksh 7000 it means they are in financial need, such people won’t care about their eyeball being scanned.” BY MPASHO NEWS
