Ruto intensifies Mt Kenya tour with series of projects

President William Ruto is today expected to intensify his tour of Mt Kenya in Nyeri with a series of projects lined up for commissioning.

Ruto who on Saturday embarked on a five-day visit to the region will start his day in Mukurweini where he is expected to launch the Ichamara-Rutune road and later commission the Kaigonji water project.

The event will be succeeded by the launch of water projects in Tetu and Othaya.

He will then open the Nyeri bus park and stage which is expected to ease congestion and “create a friendly transport environment”.

On Saturday, he commissioned the Githurai Water Supply Project and the new Githurai Market in Kiambu County.

The project is expected to provide 5,000 cubic metres of water per day to 500,000 residents in Ruiru, Githurai, Mwihoko, and Kahawa.

He also commissioned the upgrading to bitumen standards of the Marua-state lodge, Ruthagati-Mahigaini, Chieni-Hiriga-Kiamariga, Ndundu-ini-Kwa wambui-Karandi roads.

On Sunday, the head of state hosted leaders for an interdenominational church service at Sagana state lodge.

“Roads are Kenya’s economic growth engines. They expand the connection of people to economic opportunities and link producers to consumers,” he said.

“We will keep investing in infrastructural development to sustain our country’s transformation.”   BY THE STAR
