Harambee Stars captain Michael Olunga continues to thrive in Qatar with Al Duhail. After his goal for Al Duhail against Al Shamal SC in their 6-2 win, he became the club’s all-time top scorer. Olunga joined the Qatari side in January 2021 and has enjoyed some success in the league, including winning the 2023 league title. According to Abdelaziz Abuhamar, the Kenyan has now scored 121 goals for Al Duhail, making him the club’s record goal scorer. The 30-year-old striker has scored eight goals in seven league matches this season. He has scored in each of his team’s last five league matches. Olunga continues to consistently find the net in the Qatari league. He won the league’s Golden Boots in the 2021/22 and 2022/23 seasons. AL Duhail are now top of the league with 22 points after nine matches, four ahead of Al Sadd and Al Ahli.
Last season, they finished sixth with 28 points. Olunga is also chasing Harambee Stars’ all-time top scorer record currently held by Dennis Oliech. He has scored 30 goals and is four away from equaling Oliech’s record of 34. Harambee Stars AFCON hopes dented TUKO.co.ke earlier reported that Olunga and Harambee Stars’ 2025 Africa Cup of Nations chances were dented after their back-to-back losses to Cameroon. Kenya has now won once in Group J after four games and sits third behind Cameroon and Zimbabwe. Harambee Stars last played at AFCON in 2019 and have participated in two tournaments in 30 years.
