Former students of the recently sworn-in Deputy President Kithure Kindiki’s wife, Joyce, have come out in huge numbers to share their experiences with her. Kindiki was on October 1 sworn in as a deputy president following the post being vacant after his predecessor was impeached. How Joyce Kithure supported student financially Despite efforts by the former deputy, Rigathi Gachagua, to stop the swearing-in, the Court of Appeal did not consider his plea. However, in a TikTok post by @Wothaya Mpenda Gachagua, many Kenyans praised the new Second Lady even though her former students described her as a kind and dedicated person.
One TikToker using the handle @Mirry recalled how Joyce supported her financially occasionally while at the University of Nairobi. She said: “This was my lecturer at Chiromo, Department of Chemistry. I was a broke student. Once in a while, she would support me financially. I was almost deferring because due to financial problems. She supported me the way she could.” Here are some more reactions from Kenyans: @unknowld said:
“Congratulations, she taught me chemistry at UON, Kenya Science campus.” @ForSure said: “Beauty with brains. Congratulations, Dr Joyce, with your spouse.” @Ginger said: “As a primary school dropout, I really admire learned women.” @pngetic said: “Congratulations, my lecturer, she taught me chemistry at Kenya Science.” @PK said: “UoN to the world. Najua ingekuwa university zingine hatungeishi. Heko my lecturer.”
