As the country edges closer to the 2027 General Election, political temperatures are already on the rise, with various leaders forming alliances and coalitions in anticipation of a high-stakes contest. Among those who have expressed interest in the presidency is former chief justice David Maraga, whose name has emerged in political circles alongside Busia Senator Okiya Omtatah. The duo has gained attention, particularly from Kenyans critical of President William Ruto’s administration. According to these critics, the objective is to restore good governance and rescue the country from what they describe as rampant corruption and poor leadership. How many Kenyans would vote for Omtatah and Maraga?
A recent online poll conducted by TUKO.co.ke, which attracted 201 participants, showed strong support for the Omtatah-Maraga team, with 40.8% of respondents stating they would back the pair if elections were held today. The team led by Ruto, Deputy President Kithure Kindiki, and opposition leader Raila Odinga came in third with 19.4% support. The poll, conducted shortly after Ruto toured the Mt. Kenya region, also showed the Kalonzo Musyoka–Rigathi Gachagua–Eugene Wamalwa coalition garnering 21.9% of the vote, while the Fred Matiang’i–Reuben Kigame ticket received 17.9%. Meanwhile, as alliances continue to shift and new candidates emerge, the race to 2027 promises to be one of the most unpredictable and competitive elections in Kenya’s recent history.
Poll results of how Kenyans would vote if elections were held today. Why will Kenyans vote for Omtatah-Maraga presidency? Some voters backing the Omtatah-Maraga combination cited their commitment to upholding the Constitution, stating, “This team is known for fighting for the implementation of the Constitution.” @mark_otii “Omtatah-Maraga ticket all the way. They will rescue our beloved country from looters.” @phanuelkasuni “2027 will be integrity versus corrupt fellows. Now Kenya needs integrity to factory reset and embark on steady growth economically, health-wise, and education-wise. The team which carries such characters remains the Omtatah-Maraga team.” @Didojnr “I am happy my vote went for the winning and the cleanest team. Kenya needs a renaissance.” @cleophasmatoke2 “How I wish my vote for Omtatah/Maraga could multiply in people’s hearts and secure a win for our country.
Unfortunately, a Ruto/Raila candidacy would be a guaranteed morning-hour victory!” @EvangelineWany1 “Having Omtatah/Maraga on the team is good – they serve as a litmus test. The chaff will separate from the wheat. We will then know who was in it for supremacy and hegemonic ambition, and who was in it for a true revolution.” @antony_njeru “Omtatah-Maraga is the best, to jail these common economic saboteurs, and recover all monies stashed in offshore accounts, plus secret skyscrapers owned by Kenyan politicians.”
