Her cheerful husband is standing next to her with a hand lightly resting on the chair. As the snap captures a loving family moment, the governor seems calm and happy, cradling them both, who are donning white attire. Though no official comment has been made, the picture has sparked discussions online, with Kenyans claiming that the kids might be Kihika’s twins.
The governor travelled to the US for maternity leave, a move that has caused debate in the recent past. Concerns about Kihika’s prolonged absence from public engagements prompted some leaders to reveal she had given birth to twins in the US. A group of women leaders had earlier disclosed that Kihika had developed complications while giving birth to twins. She had requested an additional recovery period. Congratulations started streaming in when the picture went viral on social media, from politicians to ordinary Kenyans. Kapseret MP Oscar Sudi wrote: “Congratulations, my brother Sam Mburu, for the effort and the new generation. May this double blessing fill your lives with boundless love, laughter, and wonder. Wishing your growing family a future as bright as this new beginning!” Kileleshwa MCA Robert Alai also congratulated the couple on social media. He wrote: “Congratulations, Governor Susan Kihika and my brother and friend Sam Mburu, on the joyful arrival of your twins! Wishing your family endless love and happiness.”
