A shaken and heartbroken woman from Phase Two, Nakuru county, is appealing for justice after an alleged breach of privacy. Clara Mulira, a tenant, claimed she and her family members were forcefully evicted from their house by hired goons. Not only was the house vandalised, but her belongings, as she claimed, several of her household items were missing. Clara narrates being evicted in the morning The young lady vividly recalled the sudden and saddening event that left her stranded and crying for justice. “I heard a loud bang in the morning around 6:30am from the main gate. I was not expecting anyone. When I peeped through the kitchen window, I saw the main gate open and some young men had entered. There were more than 10. They told me to get out. When I asked the reason for me to get out, they did not tell me. They just told me to get out and talk to another lady who was outside the gate.
When I decided not to open the grilled door, the woman came and told me she had an eviction notice from the county government. When I asked for it, she refused to give it to me. I rushed to the police station to report,” she narrated. Clara addresses Shiko after being attacked by goons When Clara returned, her brothers, whom she had left in the house had been forced out and their household items had been removed. Clara claimed some of her stuff had also been taken away, claiming the woman, Shiko, was fond of harassing tenants. “She came to evict me from the house and she is not even the owner.
This house belongs to the county. I want to understand why Shiko has the authority to bother and harass other tenants, as I am not the first one she has harassed. I want justice,” he said. When did Clara move into her house in Nakuru? Clara said she moved into the house in January 2020 and was paying her dues through an agent. She found out that the agent was not supposed to rent the house owned by the county government and that the tenant should pay their rent directly to the county government.
After following the legal process, Clara was awarded the house by the county government and has continued to live in peace since 2021. “I do not understand why Shiko is coming to evict me, and she is not even the agent. I have been paying my rent to the county government since 2021, and I have had no problem. If there is an eviction notice, it is usually served three months before the time a tenant should vacate the house. If that were the case, the government should have served me with the notice, not any other person,” she argued.
What did the allegedly hired goons steal from Clara? Clara claimed the alleged hired goons broke into her house, stole her items and vandalised other property. The young men destroyed her gate, main door, bedroom door and stole items which she recorded at the police station. “I cannot find my TV, wifi router and some cash,” she lamented.
