Popular YouTube couple Benito and Carey Priscilla have embarked on an ambitious journey to tour Africa in a rugged 4×4, documenting every step of the way.
Benito, a passionate off-road enthusiast, has been dreaming of taking on this kind of adventure for over five years. His love for big machines and rough terrains made this trip inevitable.
Carey, his wife, a well-known makeup artist and digital content creator, decided to support his dream by joining him on this thrilling yet uncertain expedition.
Since the couple is heavily involved in content creation, they are capturing their experiences—from the breathtaking landscapes to the unexpected challenges they face.
As parents of three, they made sure to pack carefully, ensuring they had enough supplies for the long journey. Crossing over 600 km of desert terrain, they knew water and fuel would be essential survival items.
“I insisted on carrying more than three big water bottles just for drinking,” Carey shared. “But Benito thought two bottles were enough.”
At exactly 4 a.m., the couple set off, unaware of the surprises that awaited them. They were not alone, as fellow travel enthusiasts joined them for the adventure.
Trouble on the Road
The journey started smoothly, but as expected, challenges soon followed. While still cruising down the road, one of their tires burst. Luckily, fellow travelers helped them replace it.
“That was just the beginning of horror,” Benito later admitted.
As they ventured deeper into the desert, the harsh climate tested their endurance—blistering heat during the day and freezing cold at night. The rough roads took a toll on their beloved Land Cruiser, causing several mechanical issues.
“The heat, exhaustion, and everything that went wrong pushed us to our limits. Let’s just say our marriage was truly tested,” Carey confessed.
Marriage vs. The Desert
As the car’s air conditioning failed, the couple faced a new dilemma—opening the windows meant getting covered in desert dust, while keeping them shut trapped them in unbearable heat. This sparked heated arguments between them as they debated the best way forward.
At the end of each exhausting day, they set up camp at different sites. Sometimes, they found themselves deep in the forest, uncertain of what wild animals might lurk nearby.
Despite everything, the two pushed through each challenge, waking up every morning ready to conquer the next hurdle.
Benito and Carey are still on their journey, and their fans are eagerly following every step of their thrilling African adventure.
