The National women’s U17 soccer team Junior Starlets are determined to complete a double against Uganda in their 2025 FIFA U17 Women’s World Cup qualifier.
Kenya defeated Uganda 2-0 in their first leg, second round tie on Saturday away in Kampala and will be seeking to finish off the job in the return leg in Nairobi on 16th March at Nyayo National Stadium.
Goals from Ednah Nasipwondi and Joan Ogola scored first half goals to hand Kenya the advantage ahead of the second leg.
‘’The match was tough but the players gave it their all and we got the win away which is very important.We have another game at home its not yet over we are focused on getting a good result’’, Head coach Mildred Cheche spoke after the team arrived from Uganda on Sunday.
Midfielder Lindey Wee Atieno who was instrumental in the heart of the midfield and gave an assist for the second goal said the team was ready for the task ahead.
‘’The game wasn’t easy ,we promise to do well in our forthcoming matches we are very ready’’Lindey Wee remarked.
‘’We achieved the goal of getting the win away and this puts us in good shape ahead of the second leg.w have to focus and keep training’’ Captain Halima Imbachi said.

If Kenya advances to the third and final round they will face either Cameroon or Ethiopia.Cameroon edged out Ethiopia 5-2 in the first leg played in Cameroon.
Kenya is bidding to qualify for a second successive FIFA U17 Women;s World Cup after her debut last year in Dominican Republic.
The 2025 FIFA U17 Women’s Cup is set to be held in Africa for the first time with Morocco hosting the 9th edition of the global showpiece 17th October-8th November.
