Mugithi singer Samidoh is in mourning.
The father of five took to his socials to mourn Colonel (Rtd) James Gitahi.
The pilot was the husband of Nominated Senator Betty Batuli Montet.
Samidoh lost his biological parents years ago, but Gitahi guided and mentored him.
Taking to his socials, Samidoh eulogized him, indicating the thing about his death that makes it so heartbreaking.
”Today has been a hard one, receiving the worst news. A man who took me in as his own cared for me, and shared the best conversations and worldviews with me is no more. Dad, it’s still unbelievable. I’ll miss your fatherly advice and your soft-spoken nature. Fly high, Colonel (Rtd) James Gitahi .”
Gitahi passed away in a tragic road accident at Kyumvi Junction on Mombasa Highway after his vehicle collided head-on with an oncoming lorry and burst into flames.
He was alone in the car when the crash occurred on Wednesday, March 5, at around 5:30 pm.

The impact of his car colliding with a lorry sent his vehicle off the road, where it caught fire, trapping him inside.
Emergency responders were unable to reach him in time, and he was burned beyond recognition. Gitahi was the official pilot of the Late President Daniel Moi and The late Mwai Kibaki.
He retired after 40 years of flying; he retired in 2023. Samidoh’s mother, Miriam Wairimu, died when he was in Form Two.
His late father, Michael Ndirangu, was a police officer. He was killed in tribal clashes when Samidoh was only three years.
