Former deputy president Rigathi Gachagua has hinted at the possibility of his son seeking a political seat in the next polls. Rigathi Gachagua accused the government of trying to create discord in his family. A former Mathira MP, Gachagua suggested that political service could be an alternative if government forces continue frustrating their businesses. Speaking during an interview with KTN News on Monday, February 24, Gachagua accused the government of attempting to create division within his family through fake letters and orchestrated propaganda. The former DP claimed that government operatives had fabricated a letter purportedly written by his sister-in-law to sow discord within his family. “I’ve even seen, I’ve seen, uh, these government people trying even to create a wedge within my own family. They had written a fake letter purportedly by my sister-in-law complaining about me so that they could create a wedge in the family; the government has sunk so low, you know, it has sunk so low. And they even tried to create conflict within my family,” he claimed.
How did the government target Gachagua’s family According to Gachagua, the alleged smear campaign affected his loved ones, particularly his children, who struggled to understand the motives behind the attacks. He explained that while he and his wife had grown accustomed to political attacks, he admitted that his children found it draining. Gachagua explained that the incident had caused significant distress for his children, who were unable to comprehend the political machinations behind the alleged scheme. “My sister-in-law was so stressed because my children were calling her. Why are you writing this about dad? It’s a fake thing. So these things do happen, but they are part of life for me and my wife we don’t have a problem, but for my children, it’s very heavy because they are young people and they can’t understand these things, what it is all about,” he lamented. Will Gachagua’s sons join politics The former DP revealed that he had advised his sons to consider joining politics if they continued facing business frustrations allegedly orchestrated by the state. He emphasised that politics is a calling rather than a means of financial gain, urging his children to embrace public service. “I’ve even told them, you know, don’t worry if the government interferes with your businesses, come and join me in politics. I’ve told my son, the city in Mathira is vacant come and run. I’ve told the other one here in Langata, we can get where we live. Come and take. So that if they stop all your businesses, you cannot stop living and you can come and join me in serving the people. There’s no gain. It’s a calling,” Gachagua added. Are Gachagua’s sons married? In August 2022, ahead of the elections, TUKO.co.ke reported that Gachagua attended a final prayer service at a local church in Mathira Constituency on Sunday, August 7, accompanied by his two sons. Kevin and Keith, dressed casually, actively participated in the service by singing well-known hymns. Their distinct and stylish hairstyles caught attention, sparking admiration on social media with many asking about their marital status.
