“I Don’t Know How to Beg”: Azziad Nasenya’s Old Interview Resurfaces

Kenyan media personality and content creator Azziad Nasenya has been the subject of discussion following allegations that she has outstanding debts.

These claims surfaced after blogger Edgar Obare shared messages from anonymous sources accusing her of borrowing large sums of money and failing to repay them.

As the controversy gained traction, an old interview clip of Azziad resurfaced, where she shared her perspective on borrowing money.

In the interview with filmmaker Phil Karanja, Azziad stated that she prefers earning her own income rather than seeking financial assistance.

“There is satisfaction in making money from your own hard work. I sleep well knowing that I made that KSh 50 on my own. I don’t know how to beg, and I never want to put myself in a position where I have to,” she said.

Following the emergence of debt claims, this video has been referenced in discussions about her financial situation.

Claims of Unpaid Loans

Blogger Edgar Obare had alleged that Azziad borrowed KSh 400,000 from a close friend, with a promise to repay within three days.

However, according to the claims, the amount remained unpaid even after several months. He also shared purported voice recordings of a distressed individual, alleged to be Azziad, speaking about financial struggles.

Additionally, TikToker Mary Musyoka claimed that Azziad owes her KSh 300,000. These allegations have led to online discussions about Azziad’s finances and public image.

Her Manager’s Response

Azziad’s manager, Peter Kawa, addressed the claims in an interview with Ankali Ray in late January 2025.

“She is okay and with her mum in Germany. I cannot confirm or deny anything about the claims circulating online. Whoever wants to speak can speak,” Kawa said at the time, adding that Azziad may or may not address the issue personally.

Azziad’s Background and Career

Azziad Nasenya rose to fame in 2019 when a TikTok video of her dancing to Utawezana by Femi One and Mejja went viral.

She has since built a strong social media presence, with over 3.2 million TikTok followers and over 66 million likes.

On Instagram, she has over 2.4 million followers, while her YouTube channel has over 178,000 subscribers.

Beyond social media, Azziad has ventured into acting, radio hosting, and brand endorsements. She has appeared in TV shows such as The Odd Pair (2023), Faithless (2023), and Selina (2018). She also plays the role of Miss Kemi in Prefects.

In 2020, she was appointed as a Global Ambassador for the Save Our Future campaign and later became a BIC brand ambassador for Miss Soleil razors.

In February 2023, she joined the Ministry of Youth Affairs, Sports, and Arts as a member of the Creatives Technical Committee.

Her LinkedIn profile lists her as the Founder and Board Chair of Zynergy Point, a content creation consultancy aimed at professionalizing the industry in Africa.
