Bahati to Men: “If You Don’t Have Money, Don’t Date”

Kenyan musician Kevin Kioko, popularly known as Bahati, has sparked debate after advising men without financial stability to avoid getting into relationships.

In a post on his Instagram page, Bahati shared his thoughts on love and money while revealing the sixth of eight gifts he has been giving his wife, Diana Marua, to celebrate their eight-year marriage anniversary.

According to the singer, dating and relationships require financial investment, and any man who wants to love and be loved must be willing to spend on his partner.

Bahati stated that men who refuse to spend on their women—or those who simply can’t afford to—should not pursue relationships.

He further argued that men who call women “gold diggers” are often the ones who fail to provide for them.

“Dear Men, a respectful piece of advice 🙏 If you don’t have money, don’t date 🫣 That’s the only way you’ll stop calling women gold diggers 😎 In my next post, I’ll show you how much I spent on Gift No.6 for my wife—Lovers’ Jewelry,” Bahati wrote.

Bahati’s stance on love and money has sparked mixed reactions, with some people agreeing that relationships require financial investment, while others argue that true love should not be measured by material wealth.

Bahati’s Grand Anniversary Surprises

For the past two weeks, Bahati has been trending on social media due to the extravagant gifts he has been showering on Diana.

To mark their eighth anniversary, the musician has gifted his wife expensive presents, including land, a housing project, and other luxurious surprises.

However, one of the most talked-about gestures was when he went a step further and got a tattoo of the name Diana B on his arm as a show of commitment.

Karen Nyamu Offers a Different Perspective

Interestingly, nominated senator Karen Nyamu shared a contrasting opinion on the same issue in early February 2025.

The long-standing debate on whether women spend money on men has always been a hot topic, and Nyamu weighed in with her perspective.

Taking to her Instagram page on February 5th, Nyamu shared a stunning photo of herself dressed in a long, baby pink outfit. However, it was her caption that caught people’s attention.

According to the politician, women do have money, but they only spend it on men they truly like.

She challenged the idea that women are always on the receiving end in relationships, suggesting that a man should pay attention to whether his woman invests in him as well.

“If she doesn’t spend on you, then she doesn’t like you. Women have money,” Nyamu wrote.
