Beyoncé has once again cemented her place in music history by winning the Best Country Album award at the 2025 Grammy Awards.
Her album Cowboy Carter took home the top prize, making her the first Black woman ever to win in this category.
The announcement, made by Taylor Swift, left Beyoncé visibly stunned as she stepped onto the stage to accept the award.
“Wow, I really was not expecting this,” she said in her acceptance speech. “I want to thank God for allowing me to continue doing what I love after so many years.”
Beyoncé also took a moment to acknowledge the country artists who collaborated on the album, including legends like Linda Martell and Willie Nelson, as well as modern stars such as Miley Cyrus, Post Malone, and rising artist Shaboozey.
“I want to thank all the incredible country artists who embraced this album,” she continued. “We worked so hard on it. Sometimes, genres can be a way to keep artists in a box, but I encourage everyone to follow their passion and stay persistent.”
She concluded her speech by expressing gratitude to her family, fans, and the artists who contributed to the album. “This award wouldn’t have been possible without them. I’m still in shock, but thank you so much for this honour.”

A Night of Firsts
Beyoncé’s historic win didn’t stop there. Earlier in the night, she and Miley Cyrus won Best Country Duo/Group Performance for their song II Most Wanted from Cowboy Carter.
This made her the first Black woman to win a Grammy in the country genre in 50 years, following The Pointer Sisters’ win in 1975.
Beyoncé entered the night as the most-nominated artist at the 2025 Grammys with 11 nominations.
With Cowboy Carter up for Album of the Year, and her hit TEXAS HOLD ‘EM nominated for both Record of the Year and Song of the Year, she still had more chances to take home additional awards.
Tough Competition
The Best Country Album category featured strong contenders, including Chris Stapleton (Higher), Kacey Musgraves (Deeper Well), Post Malone (F-1 Trillion), and Lainey Wilson (Whirlwind).
Despite the competition, Cowboy Carter stood out.
Other Big Winners
The 2025 Grammy Awards also celebrated other notable artists. Kendrick Lamar won three awards for Not Like Us, including Best Rap Song, Best Rap Performance, and Best Music Video.
Charli XCX also had a big night, taking home three Grammys for her album Brat.
Beyoncé’s record-breaking night continues her legacy as one of the greatest artists of all time.
